Preorders open! Run With the Hunted 4: VIP
As October draws to a close, I know there's one thing on everybody's minds: the next installment of Run With the Hunted!
Run With the Hunted 4: VIP is available for ebook preorder now, on the platform of your choosing! The paperback will swiftly follow.
'Funny, twisty, and full of surprises, 'V.I.P' is a boot-scootin' good time as well as a cleverly unexpected addition to this series of heist books!' - Premee Mohamed
In the fast paced, tech heavy future, even cowboys get the blues. Bristol is unwinding at a non-work party when she's approached by a bullrider with trust issues; he's had enough injuries that he can't do the rodeo circuit anymore, and he's got a deadline to get married and claim his family fortune if he wants a ready-made alternate career path. With Bits and Dolly posing as her bodyguards, Bristol is plunged into the social lives of the ostrich ranching elite. It's rife with rivalries and there are parties for days, but when people from Bristol and the team's past catch up to them, the race to the altar takes a left turn.
My dear friend J.Z. Kelly has a blog post detailing the reasons why you should preorder RWTH: VIP

2020 Awards Eligibility Post, Jennifer R. Donohue
I had five original stories published this year!
"For Thine is the Kingdom" appeared in Truancy magazine in January
"Black Market Cheerios" appeared in Lamplight volume 8, issue 2.
"Nothing Left But Mud" was published as a standalone by Sword & Kettle Press in July.
"Defend Us in Battle" appears in the Hear Me Roar anthology, released in September
"Know They Will Die, Under the Salt of It" appeared in The Future Fire in October.
Additionally, I released the third Run With the Hunted novella, Run With the Hunted 3 Standard Operating Procedure, in October

Cover Reveal and preorder announcement! Run With the Hunted 3: Standard Operating Procedure
It's that time of year again!
Run With the Hunted 3: Standard Operating Procedure is coming to you on October 31, 2020!
That's right, Dolly, Bits, and Bristol are back with their latest adventure!
In the fast-paced, tech-heavy future, the rich are richer, and even more careless. Dolly is practically legit, recovering abandoned sports cars from parking lots around Dubai, and selling them off after a little tech magic from Bits. When Bristol catches wind of an auction for the most expensive dog in the world, it’s an opportunity they don’t want to miss. What could be more fun than a dog heist? But things really go south when it’s about handoff time, and this super simple dog heist gets a little more deadly.
You can preorder the Kindle version here: Run With the Hunted 3: Standard Operating Procedure
And you can preorder non-Amazon items here (more stores will populate as the preorder processes through them): Run With the Hunted 3: Standard Operating Procedure
Unfortunately, Amazon does not do paperback preorders, so you won't be able to order that until day of.
Missed the previous heists? There's still time to catch up with Run With the Hunted and Run With the Hunted 2: Ctrl Alt Delete!

April.....fools?
What's been going on?
I hope you are well
Because. Um. Yeah. Lots going wrong in the world, isn't there?
I'm happy to report, for my part, that while the library is closed, my coworkers and I all still have jobs. Many of us even have job duties that we can still perform from home. This is a privilege that I am VERY thankful for; I feel unbelievably lucky.
And we're seeing now just how much libraries can still do from home. There are digital escape rooms, there are livestreamed storytimes (with many publishers and children's book authors generously saying "yes, it's okay to read my books for these." Many ebook lending restrictions have been lifted, and I know at my library, Hoopla, our newer streaming service, has been wildly popular. Run With the Hunted, et al will eventually be added to Hoopla...Draft2Digital started that process back in like, November, and I think both services were unprepared for how many people were gonna say yes all at once.
One of those work-from-home things is my writing group. We've just had a big email ol' email chain, that I kick off each Saturday with a collection of writing prompts, and people who feel up to it send back what they came up with. I've been working on a short story in this way, bit by bit, prompt by prompt. I'm not really sure how it will end up, but that's taking shape. It's interesting to write in that way, letting people read it as you go, instead of after you've ironed out the wrinkles and tacked down the edges and done things like give people names (....whoops...)
I've been putting the prompts on my Patreon, for free. And I'm going to link the ones I've got so far right here:
Digital Writing Group! Prompts, volume 1
Digital Writing Group! Prompts, volume 2
Digital Writing Group! Prompts, volume 3
Digital Writing Group! Prompts, volume 4
Digital Writing Group! Prompts, volume 5
Digital Writing Group! Prompts, volume 6
In addition to that, I've been working on Run With the Hunted 3: subtitle to be determined, and making satisfactory progress on that. I've even got a coveer in the works! So I'll let you know here, and everywhere, when there are pre-orders for that.
I also plan to do an omnibus that collects the first three novellas under one roof, as it were. I'm thinking hardcover AND paperback for that, which means I'll be wrangling with the Ingram book formatting program. So that'll be a new experience! And then I'll need a cover for THAT too. So...any suggestions would be welcome!
And last but not least, I've had two short stories published so far this year! The first is "For Thine is the Kingdom", which appeared in Truancy in January. The second is "Black Market Cheerios", which appeared in Lamplight Volume 8, Issue 2, in March.
For news along these lines, you can subscribe to my TinyLetter, which I send out with slightly more frequency than I blog anymore (I used to blog a lot...I guess now you can tell that I'm writing more!)
Stay safe out there. Stay home if you can. It's a great time for reading, and for writing, if you can. Or baking bread, as so many people are doing. Or cross stitch or doing the plank challenge or binging everything you never got around to on various streaming services.
Until next time!

Now Available! Run With the Hunted 2: Ctrl Alt Delete

In the fast-paced, tech-heavy future, even hackers need to take a break. Bits isn’t working right now, and instead spends her days in VR, making necessary additions to the immersion’s neglected night sky. When Dolly shows up with a problem that needs solving, Bits can’t just boot her. Especially not when she finds out Bristol’s been arrested and they have a narrow window of opportunity to bust her out. There’s something wrong, more than jail, more than the effects of all that time in VR, but she can’t remember. She and Dolly have to hit the road first and figure out the details later, because if they lose track of Bristol now, they might never get a second chance.

Yes hello it is February (2019)
January was kind of a frigid blur and I didn't have anything come out anyway (other than Patreon stories. Hey, subscribe to my Patreon! $1 a month gets you at least one short story)
I DID have something else come out in December, though. I edited an anthology for my writing group, which you can get in paperback or in ebook on Amazon.
I've continued to work on Run With the Hunted 2: Electric Boogaloo (Run With the Hunted available on Amazon and Elsewhere, tell your friends! Rate on Amazon and Goodreads! I'm not one of those authors who reads my reviews and responds to them. I just read them. I need them.)
So far, for 2019, I have had four acceptances! That is already exactly as many as I had for 2018 so let's hope we're just going upwards from here!
Three of them haven't been announced yet, but I can tell you that my scifi short story "For Whatever We Lose" will be in Luna Station Quarterly on March 1! Mark your calendar, tell your friends, set up your Google alert. It's of the same, shall we say "tone", as "Daddy's Girl" (which was in the Summer 2017 issue of Syntax & Salt if you missed it).
I may have more announcements for you later this month! Keep reading, stay warm.

Happy December! My Writing Year in Review
If you're a person who nominates for awards and things, may I direct you to my Awards Eligibility post?
So, how was my writing year? Pretty amazing, actually. Even not including my Patreon, I've had more stories published this year than I have to date, with three already out, one of which is in a pro market, and the final one forthcoming on Boxing Day. I've also had one more acceptance (so far!). Contract forthcoming, so I'll announce more when I can.
Though speaking of that pro market...."Surveillance Fatigue", published in Escape Pod, qualified me to become an Associate member of the SFWA.....so I applied and was accepted! It has also made me Campbell eligible and every time I mention that I realize I should look into it further but, here we are. I also joined the Science Fiction Writers Codex

Run With the Hunted preorder
Happy October, everybody, I have a surprise for you!
My cyberpunk novella "Run With the Hunted" is available for Kindle preorder! The release date is October 31, 2018.
"In the fast-paced, tech-heavy future, diamonds are still a girl’s best friend. Bristol is more than happy to get dressed up and crash a private diamond sale that her hacker associate, Bits, has caught wind of on the deep web. The job is unbelievably simple and the getaway is a breeze; Dolly barely even gets to fire a shot during the holdup. But in the days that follow, things start to go wrong. Bristol’s dinner party is raided, their buyer backs out, and they find themselves on the run in a heavily surveilled city. Now that it’s become clear these diamonds are more than meets the eye, the trio has to find out who wants them enough to kill for it."
I said this on Twitter, and I'll likely post about it at greater length at some later date, but "Run With the Hunted", in my head, takes place in the same near-future as "Daddy's Girl" and "Surveillance Fatigue". This isn't to say that the characters in those previous stories are involved; they aren't. Another notable difference is that the characters in "Run With the Hunted" all have names! But, it was a lot of fun to write, and I really enjoy the characters of Bristol, Bits, and Dolly, so hopefully I'll make a habit (series) of this.
